December 13, 2010: BOC to meet at night
The new BOC majority decided to hold both monthly meetings at night based on input they received during their campaigning. That would mean a work session in the afternoon and a regular meeting at 6 pm on the 1st Monday and the 3rd Monday.
There was some discussion as to whether that might preclude some citizens who don’t drive at night from having the opportunity for public input. I suggested we might add a Public Input Session to our afternoon Work Sessions to accommodate that need and it was accepted.
Now we will have Public Input at the afternoon Work Session and again at the evening Regular Session. This process is scheduled to start with our 2nd meeting in January.
This may actually work better as our economy picks up and applications increase. We normally did not make major or contested decisions at our day meetings anyway. Now we can spread this work over 2 meetings and there should be less waiting time for applicants.
I guess we’ll fine out how well this actually works out as we proceed with our new schedule.
