December 13, 2010: My Pay for Performance Votes

The PFP by Bonus vote that this BOC made tonight was an entirely different animal from the vote the past BOC made.

When I voted not to pay the PFP the first time, it was a salary increase proposal and the funds were simply not there for an extended expenditure. We were trying to keep from laying people off and we did manage to do that. The PFP was promised. I’m sure most employees earned it and I certainly know how one feels when hard work results in broken promises.

The new BOC majority decided a one time PFP by Bonus could help heal the wounds and the funds were available to do this. We approved it by bonus and I’m sure our hard working staff appreciates this consideration. It’s certainly has to be better than nothing!
